SIM card available in HK

Recently, I bought a SIM card at 7-11 for the first time near the campus. With a local SIM card, you can use the Internet and make/receive a phone call with your smartphone even outside the campus. In my case, I rarely go to outside campus since what I have to do in life(eating, buying fodd…) can be done inside the campus. However, I found out that a SIM card is one of the essential things you must have to live in Hong Kong because a phone number associated with a SIM card is required for a lot of services in Hong Kong. Bank account, mobile carrier, delivery service… those services require you to register your HK phone number.

At 7-11, I asked a staff to show me some SIM cards and below is the one I bought. This SIM card is provided by China Mobile Hong Kong and the price was HK$80. By paying HK$68 on the corresponding mobile app, you can use the data and call service for 30 days. Additionally, the usage period can be extended if you pay more through a mobile platform on the app. However, it seems better to make a contract with a telecom company to use data and call service for a long period.
