Procedure to get Hong Kong ID

Like Japanese people have their マイナンバーカード(My number card), Hongkongers have HKID(Hong Kong ID) to prove their identifies. An addition, all foreigners who stay at Hong Kong for more than 180 days are legally required to obtain HKID.

Following this rule, I went to an office to issue my HKID on Aug 31. Before the arrival, an online pre-booking was needed to register some personal information such as passport number and address. The office is in a building at Kwun Tong(観塘) where you can get there in 1 hour from HKUST. The procedures have two parts. At first, I went to a booth to do something with a staff (check my personal information, take a photo and so on). After that, I went to another booth to have an immigration officer to check my registration and issue temporary HKID. It took about 1 hour to complete all the procedure. About a week later, I am supposed to visit the office again to receive my official HKID.
