Unlike Japanese universities, HKUST doesn’t hold an entrance ceremony for new students. However, I joined two webinars that are similar to it. One is a seminar for all new postgraduate students held by HKUST. Some organizers explained the overview of HKUST such as global competitiveness, carrier paths of alumnus and new campus on 広州.
The other one was for new postgraduate engineering students held by School of Engineering. It is made up of 6 departments: Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronic and Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Decision Analytics and Mechanical Engineering. The webinar started with a talk by the dean of Engineering following academic matters including research ethics, requirements of graduation and so on. Then, three students talked about their campus life.
